Study of phase behavior of epoxy asphalt binders using differential scanning calorimetry

چکیده

Glass transition parameters can be used to study the miscibility, or lack of it, in polymer-modified asphalt binders. In this study, contribution thermodynamics mixing glass was quantitatively assessed a differential scanning calorimeter for four binders partially and fully replaced by an epoxy system. The values heat capacity (Cp) and, subsequently temperature (Tg) all were determined quantify miscibility based on entropic changes. Emphasis also given examining enthalpy as function system composition during curing ensure that these completely crosslinked further analyses. cases, positive deviations measured Tg epoxy-modified (Tg,mix) obtained from ideal rule led negative entropy (ΔSmixc), dictating presence internal repulsive forces between components. Softer associated with low Tg,mix rule. Lastly, partial replacement increased decreased amount ΔSmixc, such performance imposes formation immiscible products.

Differential scanning calorimetry of bacteria.

Thermograms obtained by differential scanning calorimetry of a range of bacteria of different heat resistances were compared. Equations were derived to calculate the rate at which the numbers of viable organisms in a calorimeter decline as the temperature is raised at a constant rate. Vegetative bacteria scanned at 10 degrees C min-1 showed multi-peaked thermograms with four major peaks (denote...

Study of the thermal behavior of azidohetarenes with differential scanning calorimetry.

Thermal properties of azidohetarenes without reactive ortho-substituents, obtained by DSC analysis, were compared with the DSC data of ortho-phenyl and ortho-acyl substituted azidohetarenes, which give ring closure reactions either to indoles or to five-membered heterocycles such as isoxazoles. The reaction temperatures and reaction enthalpies give both information to prepare the reaction condi...

Study of rabies virus by Differential Scanning Calorimetry

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) has been used in the past to study the thermal unfolding of many different viruses. Here we present the first DSC analysis of rabies virus. We show that non-inactivated, purified rabies virus unfolds cooperatively in two events centered at approximately 62 and 73 °C. Beta-propiolactone (BPL) treatment does not alter significantly viral unfolding behavior,...

Evaluation and Characterization of Free and Immobilized Acethylcholinesterase with Fluorescent Probe, Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Docking

Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme which catalyses the hydrolysis of choline esters, such as acetylcholine, is very important in nerve function. Previous structural studies showed the possible amyloid fibril formation on the AChE. Therefore it is important to understand interaction of ligands to prevent the formation of  amyloid fibrils. The purpose of the present study was to  char...
